Bishop Robert Hermann: I Would Consider It a Privilege to Die Tomorrow to Bring About an End to Abortion

“We have lost 50 times as many children in the last 35 years as we have lost soldiers in all the wars since the Revolution. I think any bishop here would consider it a privilege to die tomorrow to bring about an end to abortion. If we are willing to die tomorrow, then we should be willing to, until the end of our lives, to take all kinds of criticism for opposing this horrible infanticide.”

Cardinal Francis George & FOCA: The Question of Automatic Excommunication Would Need to Be Discussed

Catholic members of Congress who vote for the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) could face “automatic excommunication” if the act is determined to be “formal cooperation” in the evil of abortion.

When asked last week whether a Catholic politician voting for the FOCA – which would impose nationwide abortion on demand and government funding of abortion – would incur automatic excommunication from the Catholic Church, Cardinal Francis George of Chicago said the question would need to be discussed once the actual language of the bill was known.

Bishop Emeritus Rene Henry Gracida of Corpus Christi, TX, told LifeSiteNews.com (LSN) his reaction to Fr. Newman’s letter “is one of admiration and awe. I find nothing in what he has written that is at variance with the Magisterium of the Church. He is to be congratulated.”

In 60 Years: ‘Infanticide denier’ fights extradition to Germany

“The box was s big and heavy in his arms that he couldn’t get the key in the lock. So I unlocked the door for him, and pushing the door open, I saw very clearly the gleaming metal of the crematorium- a full sized crematorium, just like the ones used in funeral homes.

I went back to my computer. I could hear Tiller firing up the gas oven. A few minutes later I could smell burning human flesh. Mine was the agony of a participant, however reluctant, in the act of prenatal infanticide.”

Jill Stanek on Live Birth Abortion

In case you haven’t heard, children with birth defects (or for any reason) are forced to be born prematurely and left to die — and in one facility, in a cold urinal. Then the *physician signs the birth and death certificates at the same time. The mortuary picks up the child’s body, and all is soooo respectable.

Fr. John Zuhlsdorf and His Blog

. . . Such sobriety mingled with virtue is the stuff of saints.

And by way of corollary, the recovery of spiritual sanity will have humor as one of its signs. For humor is among other things the perception of imbalance as imbalanced and the appreciation of incongruity as incongruous.

Self-absorbed observers are not observers at all, and so they tend to humorlessness; they lack a platform in reality from which to measure the lack of measure around them.

In the present life of culture, and certainly in this moment of the Church, extremists on the left and on the right have a common inability to laugh at themselves.

Healthy jokes are to them like a strange sound frequency to a dog: they turn their heads, they look distressed, but they do not laugh.
